Originally from Illinois, I moved to San Francisco shortly after graduating High School to pursue a career in Illustration. After several years of learning the Arts and painting murals I decided to return to another passion of mine, gardening. Being outdoors and having my hand in the dirt is where I feel most comfortable, being a big nature lover as a child. After going to school to learn Horticulture I began my path professionally and have been working for nearly 11 years now exploring different realms like xeri-scaping, California natives, edibles, ornamentals, indoor plants such as orchids, aboriculture, water gardens/fountains, terrariums, growing mushrooms, permaculture techniques, vermiculture, living walls and floral design.
Now located in West Sonoma County I have taken what knowledge I gathered living in the City while experimenting with new techniques that come with dealing with small/awkward spaces and welcoming wildlife in the garden. I like to practice organic gardening methods and plant different species that attract beneficial insects, bring beauty into your surroundings along with some edibles too.
When my hands aren't in the dirt I am always creating be it through my artwork, DIYing-crafty times or cooking. You can check out my art website at: www.erikawurm.com
